Doing a little pumpkin carving - Julia baked up some yummy pumpkins seeds for us
As expected the kids came in multitudes. Over 400 kids were given a piece of chocolate and an invitation to church tonight. All the while hanging out with great friends, pizza, toasted pumpkins seeds. Shawn was happy he could still catch some of the football games. Not bad for a couple hours work!
Missions Banquet
Hey Gang!
Our annual Project A1:8 Missions Banquet is just around the corner. Remember to get your RSVPs turned in by Sunday, November 1st. You will want to hear all that was accomplished in 2009 and the vision for 2010. We are honored to have Pastors Williams & Peruth Beshiisha of Uganda join us for the evening as well.
A free catered meal will be provided along with a “Taste of the Nations” table. Kids in grades 1 -5 are having their own missions banquet with a “flight around the world” and fun activities planned. The tiny ones will be watched over as well.
It will be a night to remember! So get your RSVPs in!! Here’s the details:

Church of the Heartland – Winamac
October 31st Outreach
Here we go again…. ready to give out some smiles? This weekend we will take advantage of the great opportunity of hoards of candy-crazed children coming to my doorstep! The idea comes from our very own Chrissy Kinney. One morning she felt God telling her to “go where the people are”. I love that! We are going to use my front porch which is located on Trick or Treat alley. We are going to love people, give out smiles, and of course candy. Not only that, with each piece of candy, there will be a ticket which can be redeemed for another prize if they bring it to church with them next Sunday.
I personally am not a fan of Halloween however I am a fan of loving people. If we are to show people love, we need to be where people are. I’m using this time to teach my kids to give. They will be the ones giving out the candy and invite other kids to church. They are so excited about doing this.
We are meeting at my house at 4:00pm on Saturday. We will be having some fun activities for our kids until the trick or treat time begins at 5:30pm.
Get A Word
This week has been good yet challenging week for me. Last Thursday evening at the ladies service with Linda Turner, I was reminded that I need words from God to sustain me. They are the words of TRUTH rather than my crazy emotions and mind running a muck! We are doing the sermon series “The Death Spiral” and, boy, do I feel like I’m in one. I feel like I’m about to crash and burn! This morning I had to stop….
God loves me. He has good plans for me. Successful plans for me. My part is to be obedient in the small things – that’s it. I can do this! Galatians 6:9 “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Linda Turner is having one more meeting tonight at our Logansport campus. Meet at the church at 4:30pm CT to carpool or if you are unable to attend, try to catch it online via videocast at www.livestream.com/churchoftheheartland at 6:00pm CT
I encourage you to hear what God is saying about your life. It’s not a big mystery or secret, He really wants to tell you.
Guest Minister: Linda Turner
We have a fantastic week ahead of us. One of my personal favorite guest ministers, Linda Turner, will be here for what will be some phenomenal meetings. Linda is an anointed minister of truth. She will challenge you to a new level of spiritual maturity. She has traveled to over 100 nations teaching God’s word. You will not be the same after Linda’s dynamic and compassionate messages.

Back to Church Sunday a Success!
What an awesome Back to Church Sunday we had a Starke County campus! New faces, old faces and lots of smiling faces! Thanks for all your inviting, participating in our outreaches, helping with the foyer’s new look! It was worth it!
I loved the sermon this week – which chair are you sitting in? Following is a cool video we played this week:
Let’s not let up on our inviting and excitement about what God is doing here. Our Back to Church Sunday was a launching pad not the finishing line. So many more people need to know Jesus loves and cares for them. Our next sermon series is going to be excellent. The Death Spiral: Answers to a life spinning out of control.

Who are YOU Inviting?
Back to Church Sunday is just around the corner. Are you thinking of who you will invite? People are hurting all around us, look for someone who could use some hope in their lives!
Here are some things you can still be a part of as we gear up for this Big Sunday:
-Pray! Yea, I know it’s so religious but let’s do it anyways! Join us on Thursday nights 6:00pm at the church and spend some intimate time with God.
-Door Hanger Outreach in North Judson on Thursday, September 10th 6:00 We are going to put Back to Church doorhanger invites on 300 homes! You won’t have to talk to a soul! And as Pastor Shawn said-you can even wear camo and paint your face black so your unrecognizable!
-Addresses, Addresses, Addresses. Our mailer will be going to 1000 homes in Knox. But if you have a family member, co-worker, friend, or neighbor you want to make sure gets invited, email me their mailing address & I’ll be sure they get an invitation!
Let’s go team! Let’s get inviting! Oh, by the way, remember whoever brings the most visitors on September 13th will win a gift card! Woo-Hoo! Who’s it going to be?

Awesome Weekend at the Harvest Festival

A few of the daycare kids ready for the parade to start
[/caption]Thanks so much for everyone who helped this weekend at the Knox Harvest Festival. We handed out gallons upon gallons of water and bags upon bags of popcorn. All with a big smile!
Our daycare kids also participated in the parade on Saturday. They loved throwing out candy and waving to the crowd! What a fantastic weekend! Again thank you thank you thank you for everyone who made it happen!
