Life Suggestion
Tomorrow at the COTH missions banquet, I’m supposed to share a brief testimony of a mission trip to Costa Rica, Central America I went on while in college. Well that has been a day or two ago-actually 4,380 days (12 years) – so I had to find my journal from 1996 to help jogged my memory. It was really cool to read again my experiences and thoughts as a mere 21 year old college student.
I was flipping through my journal, briefly reading what was going on in my life over the next few years. I had forgotten some really cool things. I embarrassingly admitted to Shawn a journal entry I made about our first “coke at Arby’s” date. I thought he was a “cutie”. (well that’s a no brainer
) Crazy thing is about a month later after this first date, I wrote I knew we would be married. Wow, that didn’t take long! The rest is history.
The point of all this….. I realize how important journaling can be. It literally can document our journey in life. People we meet, adventures we take. I’m thinking about taking up this practice again. Those memories I read from 8-12 years ago are precious. Just a thought…… Lyndee
Class & Grace
I always try to portray myself having somewhat class, style, & grace. Well, I have to tell what I did today. I was by myself but I know if my husband or friends were with me, they would of had a really good laugh. So here’s to them….
I’m at the Winamac campus to pick up the mail, deposit info, etc. and my mind was somewhere else. And as I stepped up on the sidewalk, I missed. I fell with a couple of awkward turns & twists. I really wanted to just lay there but knew I had to get up as quick as possible, put both my hands in the air and say “ta-da” like I meant to do that acrobat feat.
Oh my gosh, I have not had pain like that since childbirth. My twisted ankle, banged up knee, cracked elbow bone, skinless palms. I panicly checked my fav pair of jeans for a rip-shew, nothing. I did although scoffed up my boots my mom gave me just two days ago. My kids fall a bjillion times a day like nothing. I realize I’m now at the age where falling is not a good thing.
I did honestly laugh out loud (once I found the condition of my jeans were ok and no major brokeness to my appendages.) I had to look ridiculous. And just a reminder that maybe I’m not as classy as I think I am. This blog is dedicated to my friends who would of laughed first and called 911 second. (you know who you are!

Ok, Again with my Brother!!
For those who care (mostly me!
) Here’s an article that was in the Rochester Sentinal today about my brother’s movie debut. I think he really needs to do a premier up here in Rochester – where we grew up!! We’ll see…. he’s completely embarrassed about all the fuss up here (you should hear my mom!) but what else do we have in the cornfields of Indiana with winter approaching. Group Bible read, Acts 1
Join us this week in reading the Book of Acts. This is a great book on the work of the Holy Spirit within the early church. There is so much to learn from reading and seeing the early church minister the word and build the Kingdom of God. Be inspiried by the Bible this week!!
Acts 1
As I begin to think about that, I realize there is a great importance in understanding the Kingdom of
God. To some of us this may be something new and other’s may be students of it. It is important to learn
and begin to change our mindset from what we know to a kingdom mindset. This is why we must
continually pray read the Word and receive the leadership of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus knew He was talking to the leaders of the next movement of the kingdom of God and oviously felt that this was a very
important thing for them to know and understand. Jesus knew we would need alot of help and assistence in developing the kingdom of God on this earth. the promise of the Holy Spirit is a great encouragement and support for all of us.
CARPET NAZI
Finally after 3 1/2 years living in our house, we have managed to save up a little money to do some much needed home improvements. With the help of my awesome father-in-law, we are in the middle of remodeling our bathroom. Right now the bathroom is a mess with drywall compound, I have no mirror, all bathroom stuff is in our office, & we detached our shower so everyone has to take a bath. However I’m ok with it all because my bathroom is going to look so pretty! I am so excited!
On the other hand, yesterday we also had our carpets cleaned in the living and dining rooms. With 2 small children (plus Shawn) I was so embarrassed of the carpets. Anyone with kids and husband know that anything and everthing gets smooshed, spilled, & rubbed in. And my 2 year old Jack just loves to fling his edibles across the room at any given chance. Juice, milk, coffee, crackers, pb&j sandwiches, applesause, my personal fav to cleaup-spaghetti sauce, & most recently the neighbor brought in with her doggie do-do. EEW EEW EEW EEW. But now my carpets look wonderful. I just stared at them all night with a little smile. Although, I have found another job title for myself — carpet nazi! You better believe I was watching my kids like a hawk last night. (Shawn was gone all night so at least I didn’t have to scold him.) I even put a plastic table cloth underneath them at dinner time & made them eat clear foods-(just kidding well not about the tablecloth.) I made it one night without my carpets getting blemished. I probably need to settle down or I’ll make myself hyperventilate over the floors. Oh shoot, I heard a sippy cup fall to the ground. Gotta go! Lord help me……… Lyndee
A welcoming perspective
At one time one or another I have visited all five of the Heartland campuses. Several things stand out from these experiences.
· Welcome received – It is as great as any church I’ve ever been in
· Worship is exciting and sincere
· Preaching is Bible-based with application to everyday life
These experiences have been a blessing to my Christian life.

A Call to GO!
We are beginning our new sermon series this Sunday. It’s a topic very important to us as Church of the Heartland – MISSIONS. What a privilege to be able to reach people locally, nationally and internationally. God loves people. Our missions department is named Project A1:8 – after Bible verse Acts 1:8. Come here why it’s important to be personally involved in mission work at some level.
And just a reminder – turn in those RSVP cards to our mission banquet coming up on Sunday, November 23rd. Check out this link to find out more information http://projecta18.wordpress.com/
