Transition Meeting
Tonight (Thursday) at 6:00pm we will be meeting to discuss any questions, concerns, comments you may have about our Sunday service transition. Please come! Pastor Heath and Misti will be joining us for the evening.
Sunday Service Changes!
Beginning Sunday, November 15th we will be making some changes to our Sunday service. We will no longer meet at 10:00am. Our new service time will be 5:00pm Sunday evenings.
Ok, so let’s answer the, why? Over the past 3 years as your pastor, I have not seen the results I would have liked. As a church we have gone through significant changes that have been hard to withstand (ie loss of key families and leaders, move to the new sanctuary, me getting a secular job) We realize that in order to be successful in this county, we need a team to surround us.
In order to bring in the team that is needed, we have to move to a Sunday evening service. What our church will gain is a live worship band led by Larry Redlin and teaching pastor Heath Hiatt. We will remain leading the church in the day-to-day activities, outreaches, and needs of the people.
Sunday evening services will be the same format but with the upgrades. Plus a meal after service to encourage fellowship and connectivity. We are excited about this transition. Our church will be a voice of spiritual freedom to Starke County. We love this church and the people it represents.
The next sermon series is Risk: Courage, Faith, & the Guts to go for it. It’s very appropriate for what we are about to do. Will you stand with us during this time of “Risk”?
Schedule for the next five weeks:

5:00-6:00pm Pastor Heath Hiatt, Risk: courage, faith, and the guts to go for it

Doing a little pumpkin carving - Julia baked up some yummy pumpkins seeds for us
As expected the kids came in multitudes. Over 400 kids were given a piece of chocolate and an invitation to church tonight. All the while hanging out with great friends, pizza, toasted pumpkins seeds. Shawn was happy he could still catch some of the football games. Not bad for a couple hours work!
Missions Banquet
Hey Gang!
Our annual Project A1:8 Missions Banquet is just around the corner. Remember to get your RSVPs turned in by Sunday, November 1st. You will want to hear all that was accomplished in 2009 and the vision for 2010. We are honored to have Pastors Williams & Peruth Beshiisha of Uganda join us for the evening as well.
A free catered meal will be provided along with a “Taste of the Nations” table. Kids in grades 1 -5 are having their own missions banquet with a “flight around the world” and fun activities planned. The tiny ones will be watched over as well.
It will be a night to remember! So get your RSVPs in!! Here’s the details:

Church of the Heartland – Winamac
October 31st Outreach
Here we go again…. ready to give out some smiles? This weekend we will take advantage of the great opportunity of hoards of candy-crazed children coming to my doorstep! The idea comes from our very own Chrissy Kinney. One morning she felt God telling her to “go where the people are”. I love that! We are going to use my front porch which is located on Trick or Treat alley. We are going to love people, give out smiles, and of course candy. Not only that, with each piece of candy, there will be a ticket which can be redeemed for another prize if they bring it to church with them next Sunday.
I personally am not a fan of Halloween however I am a fan of loving people. If we are to show people love, we need to be where people are. I’m using this time to teach my kids to give. They will be the ones giving out the candy and invite other kids to church. They are so excited about doing this.
We are meeting at my house at 4:00pm on Saturday. We will be having some fun activities for our kids until the trick or treat time begins at 5:30pm.
Get A Word
This week has been good yet challenging week for me. Last Thursday evening at the ladies service with Linda Turner, I was reminded that I need words from God to sustain me. They are the words of TRUTH rather than my crazy emotions and mind running a muck! We are doing the sermon series “The Death Spiral” and, boy, do I feel like I’m in one. I feel like I’m about to crash and burn! This morning I had to stop….
God loves me. He has good plans for me. Successful plans for me. My part is to be obedient in the small things – that’s it. I can do this! Galatians 6:9 “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Linda Turner is having one more meeting tonight at our Logansport campus. Meet at the church at 4:30pm CT to carpool or if you are unable to attend, try to catch it online via videocast at www.livestream.com/churchoftheheartland at 6:00pm CT
I encourage you to hear what God is saying about your life. It’s not a big mystery or secret, He really wants to tell you.
Guest Minister: Linda Turner
We have a fantastic week ahead of us. One of my personal favorite guest ministers, Linda Turner, will be here for what will be some phenomenal meetings. Linda is an anointed minister of truth. She will challenge you to a new level of spiritual maturity. She has traveled to over 100 nations teaching God’s word. You will not be the same after Linda’s dynamic and compassionate messages.

Back to Church Sunday a Success!
What an awesome Back to Church Sunday we had a Starke County campus! New faces, old faces and lots of smiling faces! Thanks for all your inviting, participating in our outreaches, helping with the foyer’s new look! It was worth it!
I loved the sermon this week – which chair are you sitting in? Following is a cool video we played this week:
Let’s not let up on our inviting and excitement about what God is doing here. Our Back to Church Sunday was a launching pad not the finishing line. So many more people need to know Jesus loves and cares for them. Our next sermon series is going to be excellent. The Death Spiral: Answers to a life spinning out of control.
